When I was a small child my grandparents lived at the top of the hill overlooking Duluth and Lake Superior. When we saw a big ship approaching the bridge we would jump into the car and my ever-indulgent grandpa would tear down the hill, arriving just in time for the alarm before the lift went up. We would watch the barges pass together and then when the bridge came down he would stand underneath and act like he was going to get squished. My brother tried to duplicate this trick today without much effect.
